Why Grammar is important in business writing
This section on Grammar may remind you of your junior high school English class. Grammar, including spelling, punctuation and capitalization, is taught early because it is the structure underlying all good writing.
Think back to a time when you have read something with noticeable mistakes in spelling, punctuation and capitalization. The mistakes jump out and interfere with the flow of the text and may even cause you to stop reading altogether. That’s the importance of good grammar.
Don’t assume that the informality, abbreviations and slang used for text messaging and tweets will overtake properly-constructed, grammatically-correct writing for business. The central reason for business communication is to accurately convey information and build trust and confidence.
This requires clear and unambiguous writing – exactly what grammar is all about.
